Common Faults and Countermeasures of Construction Hoists 2026.06/08

1. The main power supply protection switch tripped.

Cause analysis: Damage to the main cable, short circuit, or phase wire short circuit to ground is commonly referred to as rupture.

Solution: Repair the damaged parts and restore the insulation layer.

2. Control circuit protection switch trips

Cause analysis: Short circuit in the control transformer coil , loose switch wiring, or the switch falling off.

Solution: Repair and tighten the connection cable.

3. When the power supply is normal, the power box contactor is faulty.

Cause analysis: The interlock switch of the bottom frame fence gate is not connected.

Countermeasure: Adjust the interlock switch.

4. When power supply is normal, the main contactor of the structural hoisting electrical control box malfunctions.

Cause analysis: The control contacts of the thermal relay are open ; the sunroof cover switch is not connected; the safety switch is not connected ; or there is a short circuit or open circuit in the control circuit components or wiring.

Solution: Use a multimeter to measure and connect.

5. The corresponding contactor is not attracted when the operating handle is turned:

Cause analysis: The cage door switch is not closed , the upper and lower limit switches are not closed , the internal contacts of the operating switch are not connected , the operating switch wire is damaged or broken, etc.

Solution: Measure the voltage and repair it.

6. The cage automatically stops when it moves up and down:

Cause analysis: Overload operation, thermal relay malfunction , limit switch malfunction , poor contact , door switch operation.

Solution: Repair the door switch and interlock.

7. Stop when the cage rises

Cause analysis : The braking coil current selection resistor is open-circuited, or the resistance value has changed.

Solution: Connect the resistor loop properly, with a resistance value of 50-100 ohms.

8. Difficulty starting the motor and abnormal noises

Cause analysis: The brake is not engaged , the voltage is too low , the power supply is insufficient, or the distance between the power supply and the elevator is too large, or the cross-section of the power cord is too small, resulting in an excessive voltage drop during startup.

Solution: Improve the power supply location, increase the number of square cables, and ensure the power supply voltage is 380V+5% for normal operation.

9. The motor brake is not engaged.

Cause analysis: brake contactor not engaged , brake contactor contacts burned out , auxiliary contacts of the lifting contactor controlling the brake burned out , rectifier bridge block damaged or burned out.

Solution: Repair and replace the contacts or relays, and replace the rectifier bridge assembly.

10. During the lifting operation, the cage does not stop after the limit iron touches the limit switch.

Cause analysis: Damage to the upper limit switch and lower limit switch , and displacement of the limit iron contacts, causing the switch to be unable to reach the closed contact position.

Solution: Replace the switch and carefully adjust the iron.

11. Analysis of the upward contactor's tendency to burn out

Cause analysis : Insufficient power supply, the power supply being too far from the elevator, or the power cable having an insufficient cross-sectional area. Therefore, the initial voltage drop is too large, and the initial current is also too large.

Solution: Only by reducing the voltage drop can the current be reduced and the life of the contactor extended.

12. The circuit breaker trips as soon as the cage is started.

Cause analysis: Changes in the current setting of the power circuit breaker , grounding or short circuit in the motor junction box.

Solution: Replace the air switch and measure the 100A discharge voltage to determine the location of the short circuit breakdown.
